How to configure two network cards in failover configuration

Dear All,

Recently I installed CentOS 5.4 on a server having two ethernet cards. The system is up and running and both the network cards are working okay.
I need to configure these two cards in fail over mode ( i.e if one fails the other takes over automatically ). I need to keep the IP of the "taking over" card as the same as of "failed card".

Can some one help in doing so ?

Thanks

First of all you have to find out WHAT and HOW to check the card failure.
Turn second card up is not a problem: ifup eth"N"+ change routing to it.

Sure...Google can. Look up "channel bonding", see an example on this page:
