well, i have no knowledge to configure sendmail or qmail mail server in linux...
well our office opened another branch, we need a place mail server on new branch.
can you tell me how to configure sendmail or qmail which extended our existing mail server..
but mail database & user information will be existed in main office...New mail server will route
the message from new branch to existing mail server....
pls anybody help me.... its urgent for me...
i will be very grateful to u...
What is your main office setup? If your running qmail at the main off check out Mini-Qmail. Mini-Qmail's purpose is to relay mail to a central server via QMQP. It will relay to any QMQP server, but the only QMQP server I have ever delt with myself is the qmail-qmqpd server from the main Qmail MTA package.
For specific configuration help your going to have to tell me what is running on the main server machine and what you hope to run on the satellite server machine specifically. Where the maile is comming from, how you want people to be able to access it, and where they are accessing it from. Do you really just need an SMTP server for the new office to send e-mail from that office outward?
There might be better methods like using Cyrus SASL or SMTP-AUTH and IMAP-SSL for accessing e-mail from the main office ot the satellite office.
my main office is running with M-daemon mail server and remote location i need to setup qmail.
In remote mail server(qmail) contain local mail database and needs to download the mails from the main branch to their user accounts...
can we configure the remote mail server with smtp and pop3 which look to our main office mail server.. so that sending message will route through smtp of main mail server..
Please anybody help me in configuration, i will be very grate full.
