Smile how to configure gateway


hai

i have 10 systems in a LAN.all systems are running in mandriva linux.we have internet connection and a wireless router.my modem directly connected to router and router has connected to switch.here my gateway is wireless router. if i want to configure a system as a gatewayinstead of router what should i do? what changes i need? which file i want to edit for that?

You need to configure your clients with modification of the present gateway(your router ip) to your system box ip & then enable packet forwarding at your box & finally configure your box to work as a transpaprent proxy + iptables or a simple MASQUAREDING or SNATing box.

I apologize if this seems too basic of a question, but since I don't know your experience level, I'm asking just to make sure. Does the system that you want to use as a router have at least 2 different physical interfaces?
