How to Check for enabled ports

SOme help:

Iīm trying to configure a torrent client directing it to a enabled port. I havenīt a root account so I canīt configure the firewall in the setup, so my question is: as a restricted user how can I check for wich ones are the already enabled ports, preferentially ports not used by the internet browser.

Thanks, best regards.
