hi, this is Raju,
i am using Fedora 10.0, i need to connect internet by changing MAC address. I have "MAC CLEAR KEYS" software in windows. So i was able to change my MaC address in windows and i can connect to internet. But i don't know how to change MAC addr in linux. so i was unable to connect to internet through Linux.
thank you.
You should be able to manually set a MAC address in the configuration file (/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 for Red Hat based Distributions like Fedora) by changing the HWADDR line or adding one followed by the mac address. I.E.
HWADDR=XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX

hii,
i tried as u suggested , but my Mac addr is not changing,
first i had opend the file in super User mode, and i had edited the HW addr to required addr. Then i had checked using "ifconfig" command, but it is showing as previous Mac address. Even i had tried by restarting my Linux.( because in windows to change my Mac addr , i need to restart the network connections. )
I use a script with similar commands as mikidouglas pointed out. There is also a utility called macchanger that does exactly that. There is a mandriva package they have linked on their site but I'm sure it is in one of your repositories as well. http://www.alobbs.com/macchanger
