How do I share a drive on network

Hi, I have a multiboot pc with Win xp and Mandrake 10.0. I have a fat32 partion that I use to go between the two but also I share that whole drive on my network at home. What I need help with is under windows i can share it no problem, but under linux I can't figure out how to do it. The drive it mounted under /mnt/win_d if that matters. Anyhelp on this would be greatly appreciated as I am a newbie.

Yeah sure does. So first off you need to be able to mount your fat32 drive. once you mount it you need to user samba to share it on your windows workgroup. It sounds easy enough but it can be quite difficult for the new user. To mount your windows drive you need to use the mount command . Here is a link that explains in greater detail how to mount a windows drive

Once you have it mounted you can share it. Thats where samba comes in. Samba is a program that you probably already have installed on your linux system. If not you will need to download and install it. Samba can be kinda tricky to setup. Im sure there are tons of guides on this forum alone. here is a link to sambas website www.samba.org . Make sure to read all of the documentation. Once you get samba running your windows drive should just show up in the network neighborhood just like windows shares would

also here are is a good link for more info on linux and samba
