How do I set up my internet?

I have used Red Hat for years now and got used to them doing everything for me. But now I switched to slackware. I want to know what I need to do to connect to the internet. I have a cable modem that is connected to my router. I have used ifconfig to configure eth0. But im stuck on how to use the "route" command? That is were I need help. How to route all my traffic to go through the router.

type "netconfig" as root.

Be sure to choose DHCP for your access.

This should set everything up for you, and run at startup.
