Question How do I set up Internet Connection Sharing on fedora core 1?

Hello, I would like to be able to share my internet connection while in Fedora with a Windows XP pc and a Windows98SE pc but I'm not even quite sure where to begin. If I could get some advice that would be fantastic. This is really embarrasing but could I also get some help on how to stop my computer from trying to login to my ISPs network when I log on to my computer?

got no idea on the login problem but I use firestarter to graphically setup iptables to allow connection sharing and to act as a firewall. I have 98 and XP and linux boxes all sharing this gateway. All these boxes need is to point to the ip address of the gateway and as the DNS server. (I also run DNSMASQ on the gateway to speed searches) Firestarter will be added to the start menu and runs thru a series of questions when first started to setup whatever service you want to supply, so it is dead simple. Both firestarter and DNSMASQ will be automatically added to the services list to be started automatically on startup.

IPTABLES=/sbin/iptables
EXTIF="eth0"
INTIF="eth1"

# enabling forwarding
echo "1" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward

$IPTABLES -P INPUT ACCEPT
$IPTABLES -F INPUT
$IPTABLES -P OUTPUT ACCEPT
$IPTABLES -F OUTPUT
$IPTABLES -P FORWARD ACCEPT
$IPTABLES -F FORWARD
$IPTABLES -t nat -F

echo " enabling SNAT (MASQUERADE) functionality on $EXTIF"
$IPTABLES -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o $EXTIF -j MASQUERADE

The progress *thus far* :
I've managed to get all the computers on the network to take IP's automatically using dhcpd and I am able to ping everything just fine, only problem is I still can't seem to get the internet on any other of my PC's I'm assuming this is a problem with my IP forwarding configuration. I didn't quite understand what to do with the information from the last post so I found some resources at http://www.linuxforum.com/linux_tutorials/5/1.php and it looked pretty good untill I actually tried the other computers, then I tried firestarter as suggested by the first freindly face who responded (thank you btw) and that didn't really help either, could there be something else I'm over looking or could I have "Over Configured"? Can someone link me to some other IP forwarding related posts that would help (that I may have missed) or possible some other websites that may help?

yo milkrock,

create a rc.firewall script or anyfile name you want and chmod 700 on that filename. Now add the path of your script on your rc.local...

This is the script...

Quote:
me and path to iptables
IPTABLES=/sbin/iptables
EXTIF="eth0"
INTIF="eth1"

# enabling forwarding
echo "1" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward

$IPTABLES -P INPUT ACCEPT
$IPTABLES -F INPUT
$IPTABLES -P OUTPUT ACCEPT
$IPTABLES -F OUTPUT
$IPTABLES -P FORWARD ACCEPT
$IPTABLES -F FORWARD
$IPTABLES -t nat -F

echo " enabling SNAT (MASQUERADE) functionality on $EXTIF"
$IPTABLES -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o $EXTIF -j MASQUERADE
