How do i Run vnc on my linux box?
 
I am trying to run vnc on my RH9 box, how do i set it up? Where do i go to run vnc? THanks,

Once you have it installed you need to run:
vncserver

Then connect to your server using:
ip.add.ress.here:DISPLAY

Two ways you can set it up. run the VNCserver by typing vncserver. This will read a config file in your $HOME/.vnc directory. Notice it's a hidden directory so to see it use ls -a.

The other way is using init or xinit and set it up to respond when someone connects. This is much harder to setup and isn't really worth the hassle if you're the only one connecting to that machine.

Guys, i figured it out...I ran vncserver :5900 on my linux box and it set the port....thanks all of you...

You can run vncserver :1

The number after the colon is a session, not a port... :eek:
