How do I remove/uninstall old libpcap?

One of my programs requires me to install the latest version of libpcap. I downloaded it from tcpdump.org and then followed the instructions of

./configure
make
make install

However it appears that I still have an old version installed somewhere, and my program doesn't like it. Is there a way I can check where this old libpcap is located and uninstall it? I am not sure what files in particular I have to get rid of.

Thanks,
Jason

how did you install the old version? if it was an rpm use "rpm -qa | grep pcap" to find what the package is, and then remove the offending package with "rpm -e packagename". then reinstall the new version incase any common files were removed

Thanks acid_kewpie. It may have come from the standard Redhat 7.3 install. Or perhaps from a .tar.gz file. Anyway I will try those rpm commands and hopefully it will work.

I guess in linux it is difficult to remove something if it has not been installed from a rpm?

well if you still have the original source you can "make uninstall" it, but if not, you're doing it by hand.
