How do I link a file to a URL site.

Does anybody know if there is a way I can type in a name such as helpdesk on the browser and have it link to my url for that page instead of keying in the complete url. for example: I want to type in helpdesk at the browser and I want it to link to the site http://x.x.x.x/helpdesk/page.html

How would I link this file to the URL?

Thank You

Create a bookmark, and set the keyword to 'helpdesk'. This works at least in Opera and Firefox (so I assume Mozilla too).

If you want this to apply to multiple computers on a local network, you can use a local DNS or WINS-type server to use the name 'helpdesk' for that machine. Going to the right page would be less easy that way, but you could of course set the default URL on that server if it's under your control.

I really only had to post this to get my 500th post
