I've just got done compiling KDE 3.2.2 from source but now I can't get to my Windows computers' shares. Before I just typed smb:/ into Konqueror and it works but now it gives this error message.

An error occurred while loading smb:/:


Could not start process Unable to create io-slave:
klauncher said: Error loading 'kio_smb'.

I also have uninstalled my old Samba 2.x and installed Samba 3.0.4 in this order:

Uninstalled KDE and Samba
Installed new Samba
Installed new KDE

I did this because kdebase complained that I needed Samba 3.0.

I too had this problem and in my case i had this:


An error occurred while loading smb:/host

an internal error

..


the problem was my fault
I had smb:\\host instead of smb://host. OOOPS! dont know if this helps but figured i'd mention it.
