Question how do i configure my satellite modem w/ Slackware?

I'm having trouble connecting to the internet with Slackware. I have two NIC's on my machine and a satellite modem. My WinXP Pro connection (same machine, different partition) works fine.

Here's some background:

I boot Slackware Linux 9.1 from a floppy from one of two hard drives. The machine not connected to a network other than the satellite modem connection to the net via the PCI Realtek ethernet card (see below) through the WinXp Pro partition.

I'm in a rural location and connect to the net using a VYYU (??) satellite modem. There's an antenna on the house with a line-of-sight link to the Missoula, Montana ISP (Internet Connect) that provides the service.

My machine is an nVidia nForce 2 chipset on a Biostar mainboard with an onboard Ethernet Controller nVidia nForce 2, IRQ 11

Because of whatever settings I entered, Slackware may or may not be recognizing this device as "lo."

There's also an PCI ethernet card Realtek Semiconductor, IRQ 12. I do not appear to have created an eth0 file. (The PCI ethernet card is the one that is plugged into the modem.)

My internet connection info is:

Static IP Address: 66.109.153.232
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.128
DNS Servers: 66.109.128.2, 66.109.128.3
Gateway: 66.109.153.254

Please help. I am flailing.

Ok, what you need to do is read the help file on ifconfig. It will tell you how to configure the ip, subnet. The DNS server go in the file /etc/resolv.conf. The gateway is set using the route command. You are going to need to make sure you have the reatek driver loaded so you can use that eithernet card, this may or may not require a kernel module. What happens when you type ifconfigh eth0?

"lo" is the local loopback device, which is used to you can bind things that need a network port locally so you can use them but you aren't giving anyone else on your network access to them.

I should've mentioned as a PS that I've been working with ifconfig and netconfig trying to figure the problem out. I hope I haven't made it worse.
