how do i configure enterprise linux for dsl connection which uses usb....

plzz....help me out..i have redhat enterprise linux v.4.....and i have a adsl router connected to my PC via usb ......the connection is dynamic and doesnt need any password...its line identification....how do i configure my pc so i am able access the net...?!! the modem/router is by D-link ....dsl 502T....please guide mee

Hi

I am not familiar with that Modem/Router, but if it has the option to use ethernet connections rather than usb you will find it easy to connect as Linux will usually automatically recognize the connection. USB modem support is tricky in Linux and you may need a dedicated driver (I believe it must be compiled into the kernel or loaded as a module).

You could try to see if it is recognized by typing, as root:

Quote:

lsusb

If it is recognized, you will see it listed.

yes the device is listed using the above command ..but the net isnt working..!!!what should i do...?
