Hi
Think about editing (as root) /etc/network/interfaces man interfaces should help you find out what to put in there |
would u kind of enough to give some examples
right now i am working on /etc/exports so i need to have a fix ip address on my lan to know which ip address to mount thanks mate |
it is possible to have hostname in /etc/exports instead of of ipaddress
and in /etc/hosts.allow and in hosts.deny i guest not or ......... |
Yes, it is possible to nail down the cards so they don't go walkabout.
What distro are you using? BTW, if they are doing this on every reboot, you should check your NVRAM/CMOS battery. They should not be going into a plug and pray cycle just because you rebooted. This usually only happens when you move cards around on a PCI bus or manually clear the NVRAM. |
Woops, I misread your post. I though your LAN & WAN cards were swapping addresses - they can do that if you aren't careful.
Are you getting your LAN address via DHCP? What is your specific LAN config? What is the LAN plugged in to? What distribution are you using? |
sorry i was out for two days
yes i have DHCP, laptop dell c800 I have debian sarge distro |
What server is handling DHCP for you? How long are the leases?
|
my router is handling the DHCP
the wired part is my ip address is going up like the end of the part 101 102 now is in 135 it use to be between 100 and 104 because i have 4 computer, i only want to know could i have fix ipaddress |
check your router for Address Reservation. thats what i do...
you may be able to turn off the DHCP and just specify the IP to one that won't ever be used like 250 so when the other 3 computers get IP's they won't conflict with eachother. and set the DHCP range from like 100-200 |
