How can I use my treo600 as a modem?

Hi List;

I want to use my treo 600 as a modem. I have a treo 600 with Cingular wireless phone service.

I followed the instructions here:
http://fugutabetai.com/treo600_modem.html

I can get the treo into tethered mode by dialing #*83843733

I can setup a modem connection via the network configuration gui with the following settings..

connection name: treo
modem device : /dev/ttyUSB1
baud rate: 460800
flow control: software

phone no to call: #777
username: web
passwd: web

When I try to activate the connection I get "Failed to activate treo with error 6"

Anyone else have this working?
