How can I nfs mount an NTFS file system on my linux server

Hi Folks,

I would like to mount an NTFS file system residing on a WindowsNT server on to my linux server (RH 7.2). Both are in the same LAN. Could someone explain me the steps needed? I prefer not to use samba.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Try services for UNIX CD that MS puts out. I know that you can access but know sure if you can share. If that doesn't work, I think that you are SOL.

Why don't you want to use Samba?

Welcome to LQ.

Without using samba you will probably need to install extra services - perhaps an ftp server.

Thanks for the quick responses. I guess samba is the way to go. I was hesistant to use samba simply because this is a one time need and I didn't want to go through the trouble of installing and configuring samba. Thanks again.

Samba isn't that difficult and - especially the client.

If you have access to the windows machine you could copy the files to linux using winscp. That may be easier if you have ssh running on the linux box.
