Question how can i network windows to linux

I have 2 computers, one has windows XP and on the other computer i have linux. I am trying to network windows and linux together so i can play one DVD on either computer and play it on both. Kind of trying to broadcast a dvd across the network. How would i be able to do that?

first to network linux you use a program called samba.

second not sure how to 'broadcast' a DVD but you could rip it and have a player just play the ripped files

there's a media player called vlc, google it. you can stream video across a network with it.

it'll also play your image files.

Re: how can i network windows to linux

First go over to Windows and create Homenetwork.

Go over to windows and create homenetworking. It will ask you the configuration you have set up.

Select the files you'd like to share.

Download and install "Smb4k" and install it.

I assume your PC is connected by a router or by serial port?

Then go to "RUN" and type "smb4k" inside "RUN" window and a little globe with green PC will open up in the very low right bottom corner of your system tray. Double click on it and open it.
