How can I add custom entries to a BusyBox based router log?

I would be grateful if anybody can tell me how to add a custom entry to the router logs emailed to me each day.

I have a Netgear DG834PN with DGTeam firmware V1.03.39 rev 1018 and BusyBox v1.16.1.

I gave up trying to add new services to the DDNS section - I am not sure if it is poorly documented or if it has a bug.

However, I have successfully enabled a free DDNS service via the following script in the Custom-Setup/ADSL-Connection section. This appears very reliable despite setting Dynu DNS servers at Gandi and then setting MX at Dynu to direct email back to Gandi:

Code:
ewget "https;//api.dynu.com/nic/update?username=MY-NAME&password=MY-PASSWORD"
All attempts to send ewget output, or any message, to my logs have failed. I have tried:
Code:
>> /var/log/messages
and can see the results with cat but I assume my messages are either filtered out or /var/log/messages is not the correct location.

I have some Bash experience but I don't use Linux very much and BusyBox even less.

I can Telnet to the router and experiment with a few things.

The list below results from manually filtering the output from # ls -R / for the terms: log, msg, and message. Clearly many are unrelated to my problem and some are double hits resulting from aliases but I have included them all for completeness. You will note that my BusyBox has no logger command.

/bin/login
/dev/kmsg
/dev/log
/proc/kmsg
/proc/sys/kernel/msgmax
/proc/sys/kernel/msgmnb
/proc/sys/kernel/msgmni
/proc/sys/net/core/message_burst
/proc/sys/net/core/message_cost
/proc/sys/net/core/netdev_max_backlog
/proc/sys/net/ipv4/conf/all/log_martians
/proc/sys/net/ipv4/conf/br0/log_martians
/proc/sys/net/ipv4/conf/default/log_martians
/proc/sys/net/ipv4/conf/lo/log_martians
/proc/sys/net/ipv4/conf/ppp0/log_martians
/proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_max_syn_backlog
/proc/sysvipc/msg
/sbin/klogd
/sbin/syslogd
/tmp/etc/syslog.conf
/tmp/var/log
/tmp/var/log/messages
/tmp/var/log/syslog
/usr/etc/syslog.conf
0 6 * * * root killall -1 syslogd
