Hi all,
I got samba running , I am runing red hat 8 ( very nice version)
I am able to see the linux box from window$ I can access the sharing on linux form windows, but no from linux to windows
if I open nautilus and type on the address bar
smb///windows-box-name
a pop authentications comes out asking user name and password
I type a valis windows local user name y password ( that is the same on linux
after that I amble to see the sharings, if I want to open the file I got this mesages
You do not have the permissions necessary to view the contents of "the-share name on the windows box "
so , I loging in the linux box the same password and user name as in the windows box.
Do you have the Windows-end sharing setup as sharelevel or is it password protected? I've had this problem a few times because the Windows end wasn't setup to use passwords, and simply not putting anything in the boxes and clicking 'ok' worked fine.
