Hosts are not showing up on Fedora 9 box

I have a Fedora 9 box that does not display a network nor Windows network icon. It does show my volumes (hard drives, DVD drive, etc). I'm able to remotely access this system via Samba.

My Fedora 8 box displays all the hosts on my LAN, both network and Windows network icons. I can ping to and from this box.

What do I need to do on the F9 box to get a network and Windows network icon to display?

There's a simular situation on an FC3 box....this shows the network and Windows network icons, unlike above, but no hosts showing. Can't access remotely. What might be going on there?

In both cases, I can access these with a WinXP box via Samba, no problems there.

Thanks!

Fedora 9 has more powerful firewall.
Check your iptables configuration & configure it properly.
OR send me the result of iptables -F command.
I will solve your problem.

The firewall is down. Even with the -F command flushes out the iptables firewall. Running a service iptables status (or iptables --list) shows the list I'd expect.

When u r disabling firewall rules (using iptables -F) it will run with its own default ruleset.
So send me the output of "iptables -L".
