Hostname Issue & Unable to Grab IP Add

Hi all

Heres my config:
-RedHat 9.0
-Intel 10/100 EtherFast LAN Card
-3Com LAN Card

Two questions:
#1. How do i make my linux box's hostname visible? So i can ping it using <computername> from a microsoft terminal.

#2. My 3Com LAN Card is working, able to grap IP address from the DHCP server (/sbin/dhclient). However the Intel Card does not grab the dhcppack, even static ips does not work.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

1) you will need to use samba
2) If you can't get it going with a static IP then you either have the wrong/or a broken module loaded or the card doesn't work.

You would need to upgrade the kernel if you want a new version of the module.

You can find the chipset used by the card by running:
lspci

Then you just need to modprobe the driver for that card. You can get a list of loaded modules by running:
lsmod
