Lightbulb Hostname Configuration

Total noob question, but here goes...

During Linux installation, when I enter the hostname I want, what is the format?

Code:
www.hostname.com
hostname
hostname.com
www.hostname
How much do I enter, all parts or what? I know when you configure with no name it comes out as localhost.localhost. Thanks for your help and not making fun of me.

just hostname. you'll probably need to configure your domain, if applicate. that's just domain.com. some systems have nisdomain names which is the entire string: hostname.domain.com.
