Home Network Problem - Cross Platform

I Have one machine which i have ust installed Redhat 8.0
It has a Motorola USB4100 Cable Modem
It has a Rhine Ethernet Card

2nd machine is Running Windows 2000
It has a D-Link Ethernet Card.

I do not have a Router.

I need to be able to configure the Linux machine so that the windows machine can still share the internet connection in the same way as i did before when both mahcines were running win2k.

Previously one machine was permanently hooked up and never switched off, and the other used the LAN to connect to the 1st machine and then share the load of internet connection.

How can i achieve the same end result ?

Currently i cannot get the two machines to recognise each other unless i switch boot partitions and run win2k on both.

ahh well just like under win2k you need to setup your network, setup your modem etc.

I would recommend starting at http://tldp.org and go from there
