I am fairly new with Linux..trying to get more familiar with it.. so I installed FC3 and then upgraded to FC4. Now I am running FC4 and WinXP (Using GRUB for boot loaded)

Since I installed linux, I have trouble accessing the internet. First, I had the Motorala wireless card which never worked with Linux so I went ahead and ran the ethernet cable to my Realtek ethernet card. Now when Linux boots up, it recognizes my ethernet connection but a few minutes after that it "FREEZES" If I dont have the cable plugged in, it works fine but of course no access to the internet. It's really frustrating..Any help/tips..I would really really appreciate it..I am keen to learn the linux..please advice.

BTW. I did updated the /etc/hosts and added the hostname for my machine.

can you please post the error output from your screen. this will help to locate the possible causes for the freezing up of your system.

I absolutely get no errors..it just freezes..(much like Windows)
It will boot up fine..and I can even open up firefox but then in couple minutes..it would just halt. and I will have to restart the computer (by pressing reset)

am i missing something? I didnt modify any config other than /etc/hosts and added the host name..I think the IP is still the default IP (127....something something)
