Help Wanted in setting internet LAN Connection for LINUX REDHAT

Hallo Members

I recently installed redhat 7.3 and I am running Windows XP Prof. on the same machine and

I have a Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC.

The problem is that my internet (LAN Connection) does not work in Redhat unless I am logged in as root, yet it works fine in windows .

Please Help!!!!

Have you tried toying with the Network Configuration control panel?

Open the network configuration control panel and, in the Devices tab, click eth0 and then click the Edit button. In the window that comes up, search around and make sure that an option that says something like, "Activate interface at bootup" is checked.

You may also want to play with the other options in that window.

you also might want to check the box with something to the degree of "allow other users to configure this device"...that might be why it only works as root...

I am happy to see your replies and i found a solution and got connected to internet from Linux Redhat OS after 2 hours struggle.

What did you do to correct this problem? I am also having difficulty getting to the internet through the Linux computer.

Hallo,
Please explain me clearly about ur problem with LAN Internet connection for LINUX and WindowsXP OS in one michine.
I assume that, U Have Also same problem.

I just configured the Networking connections of correct IP and DNS address. Its workign for me and one more please enable check box for allow all users to change network conections.

Did your ethernet card is activated ? if yes still u dont conected to net.???
Post here clearly please, if Stil not connected.

I found it was a hardware problem with the ethernet card. It was an old card, so I bought a new one for ten bucks. Everything worked fine.
