Help RH7.2 ADSL with a bridge

Hello I am pretty new to linux (Im familliar with a few commands and such and have used it once before) but I cannot figure out how to setup my internet connection...im not sure what the problem is but heres the baisic info of my situation if anyone might be able to help...
i have a NIC that is connected with the correct cable to a switch which is properly connected to a router which is setup as a bridge (because my isp switched from having packets routed customer side to server side).
My problem is that although I have all the correct numbers entered into all the locations I can find I still cannot browse the web. The error it gives me is "www.linuxquestions.org Could not be found. Please check the name and try again." I assumed that this was due to an error somewhere with my dns entries, yet i cannot find any.
My ip is static so changing it over to dhcp most likely wont help. And the more I look for something about setting up my internet while using a bridge, the more frustrated i become with the massive number of faqs and how-tos that explain how to setup your linux box as a bridge, yet the total lack of info on setting up a linux box that connects through a bridge :P .....thank you for your time and any reponses will be greatly appreciated (boy am i eager to not have to use this pos win98 machine for the net lol).
