Help Needed With Adsl On Ethernet Card (pppoe), no internet connection

hi
i just got a Billion 5200s adsl modem with both usb and lan coonection
it worked fine with windows but in suse 10.3 , i don't know how to connect to internet with it

in windows the first time i install it and pluged it in lan card , i could see modem setup page in address 192.168.1.254 , and after that everything was automatic and always connected

but in opensuse i don't know what should i do to get it connected

i cant see modem by typing 192.168.1.254 in firefox or konqurer
and i tried knetworkmanager . when it starts up it shows a little work and then after maybe 20 seconds says that eth0 is active (before installing my modem , it didn't do this automatic, but now it does) but still no connection in firefox

though it gets an dynamic ip address that is 168.145.21.5 or something like this but the guy who installed the modem in windows for me said it should get an 192.168.1.* ip from provider

i tried this methods

static ip for lan card
entering modem ip in route tab of network card
enteing DNSs that the internet provider told me to use (though he said it shouldn't be necessary )

but nothing happens

in ifconfig output i have loopback and ethenet card identified

what should i do

can anyone give me and step by step guide?
pleeease?

help Needed with Adsl on ethernet card

When you install suse she tried to make contact with the internet I suppose
that it fails

First now you have to configuring the ethernet card assuming that the modem
is connected to ethernet card.

Ip address is dynamic
PPP over ethernet
Start up at boot time
Normally that is enough
But if there is notification that she can not configure the ethernet card because the driver is missing you should install the driver first

good luck

my onboard nic is recognized and supported by suse10.3

If the ethernet is fully recognized by suse and supported and the modem is functioning it should work from the beginning when you install open suse Because building the repositories she download it from the server after it it also do online update from the server.
But there is also a lot of information on the server of suse about ethernet cards and making contact with the internet
