help my network card wont work correctly..


hello,

im a linux newbie, and im facing a problem from my newly installed linux,
my network card wont work. ive already try some of the suggestions ive found in this forum but no one solve my problem.

im using mandrake 10 rc1, my pc is a celeron 1.1/256mb, NIC - realtek rtl8139.

im using static ip

THIS IS MY LOG from etc/log/message from my eth0:

have u tried "ifdown eth0" and again "ifup eth0" then type "ifconfig"
does it show tthe inet add=x.x.x.x

yes, but still i my nic wont work. my eth0 is up...

Hai,

Can you try the "ping localhost" or ping 127.0.0.1

If u have getting some response from this your network card is working...then u have to check for the configuration.For this you have to type the command"netconfig" in the cli mode or "neat" in the graphics mode.....

try for this......

i cant ping my loopback 127.0.0.1, also my own ip

if u can't ping 127.0.0.1 that means that ur ethernet card is not supported
or it is not connected properly. try netconfig from a terminal window or kudzu for the hardware detection

Actually, localhost 127.0.0.1 is an internal loopback device and is not related to the ethernet card not working.

Post the output of /sbin/ifconfig

What is the configuration of your network? link beat not connected means your network card does not appear to be connected to anything.
