Help me fix this simple network config problem!
Here is my problem. I am running Mandrake 9.0 and every time I start the computer I can't connect to the internet. This is what I have been doing to fix it. I will run the Mandrake Control Center and redo the network profile and then when it restarts my network everything seems fine.
Then when I start my computer again I have the same problem until I do the above fix. I'm not sure what is causing this problem. It may be related to the fact that I used to have a different network card before I switched over the Realtek I have now. So it may be loading the driver for the old card when it boots but I'm just guessing. What should I do? |
Look through the boot logs. /var/log/boot
and look for stuff relating to your network card, I pressume where talking about broadband if where going through a network card? so look for stuff relating too DHCP etc.. |
So I looked there and saw a boot.log but I could not figure out a program to open it up with. I tried kword but it refused to open it.
|
DId it say it didn't have permission?
|
It said I didn't have permission so I rebooted into root and could not figure out what to open it with.

Try Kedit
|
I don't think kedit is on my system. Is there anything else I could use?
|
I finally got the boot log open with kwrite...I was looking through it and this is what I saw relating to the network card...

Its seems to be an incorrect driver or similar. What type of card is it?
