HELP - Mandrake 9 as a DSL Router
Ok I am a super Newbie when it comes to Linux. I just installed Mandrake 9 on a tower I built with the intentions of using it as a server. Here is the Prob:
I am able to connect to my MSN DSL (wish i had other options) using my linux box. However I have problems once I install a second NIC. (Both NICs are DLink 530 tx models.) When I start up the machine after putting nic 2 in I am no longer able to get online. I have gone through the configuration tools and assigned an IP to the second nic but nothing seems to help. If I take out #2 nic I am able to get back online. I have a WinXP pro box that I wanted to share the connection with by using the second nic as a gateway. I know the nics are good because I purchased a third nic (Realtek) and have swapped all three around in the system. I just want to share my DSL with multiple machines and was told Linux was the best way to do it. PLEASE HELP THIS FLAILING NEWBIE! Thanks! |
Are they maybe conflicting with IRQs? Disable unnecessary devices in you bios and try the second adapter in a different port. Since they Each work, but not both at the same time, that's all I can come up with right now...
