Hi all,
I have a mandrake 10 installed on my sony vaio labtop. I had a redhat installed on the same machine before and the network is working fine. However, when I install mandrake, I found the OS seems not to recognize my network setup. I am in a LAN and have an unique ip address. In the RH, once the gateway, DNS and ip address are set, I can connect to the internet withou any problem. Now in mandrake, after I setup the network with drakconf, the system recognisze eth0 at bootup, it can't connect to the net anymore. Pinging the gateway return
"the network is unreachable
I have some question about networking
1) If I only connect to the internet via LAN, should I install ppp and related package?
2) Somebody tells me to check the files /etc/ppp/chap-secrets and etc.
However, I didn't find chap-secrets,.etc in /etc/ppp
