Unhappy help.... faill to active ppp0 with error 8


i'm using Redhat 9.0 the first time after i'm finish intall Redhat i can connect to the internet. but when my modem is turn of and linux booting the kudzu program give me a message. and then i choose ignore or something like that.

if i connect using kppp modem it's look ok but when register user name in the network. but it's like don't have any byte received.

i try to remove my modem device from internet configurator wizard and restrating.
it's look ok, the modem light is responding. and then i go to internet configurator again. then add modem device again. but it still got the same message...."failed to active ppp0 with error 8"

how to fix this problem ???.....
