Having problems creating a network bridge.

I want to bridge my eth1 and eth0. I am using gentoo. I used the command emerge bridge-utils to download and install the bridge utilities. The brctl command works, but when I try to add a bridge:
Code:
bash-2.05b# brctl addbr br0
br_add_bridge: Package not installed
I run into this problem. Does anyone know how to help me? Thanks in advance for your help. I am using the 2.6.7 kernel and used genkernel to compile.

You have to rebuild your kernel and add at network options 802.1d Ethernet Bridging
