Samba is one of the components of the Hannibal stack.

While I've never used Hannibal as a whole, I have used several of the component pieces in a production environment. They are pretty stable.

I've setup and used Apache, Samba, OpenLDAP, Postfix, and Procmail. Each component by itself is pretty well documented. As I've said before, I've not used Hannibal, but just from glancing at the site, it appears what they are offering is a comprehensive guide to make all the pieces work together.
