Question Guarddog - networked printer problem

Hi, I am running Lenny and printing via CUPS on a machine (at 172.30.1.10 ) firewalled with guarddog, I have added an HP CP3505dn to my LAN ( at address 172.30.1.6 ) and I can print if guarddog is disabled, while I have configured both bi-directional UDP and TCP to port 9100 but cannot get printing to this printer with guardog enabled. How would you recommend I proceed? As far as I can determine this problem is not covered by any other thread and is firewall not a printer problem. (dja.)

As you know, Guarddog runs on the whitelist principle. (You must explicitly tell it which services you will allow, as opposed to allowing all services initiated from your computer except those you blacklist.)

Confession: It's been ages since I've setup a networked printer, and right now I don't have access to one. BUT, I do know a few things about networking and *nix. First, CUPS uses IPP which uses port 631. (I presume you know "http://localhost:631".) Port 9100 might also be necessary, but that will depend on your setting. I doubt that you need it.

A quick search lead to these useful links:

Best Regards.

Smile Fixed thank you for your advice.

Hi, Thank you for your reply. It now works after adding IPP-stream port 9100 (TCP) to the Internet window. I had expected it to work with a the "local" setting. Main thing is I can print with guarddog up.
