grid networking and boinc select computer

I have 2 computers running mepis 6.5 connected to a router
they both run boinc fight aids at home (24/7)

one has a 19 inch monitor that I use mostly
the other has a 32 inch lcd tv/monitor

I dont want to power up the tv once or twice a day just to check the
status of the projects running on the boinc client software.

the boinc manager software has a feature to select a computer on a network
for just such a reason.

i am not able to connect after supplying a host name and root/user password
I can ping the host name after i edited the hosts file

I dont think i need nfs
this seems just a simple network setting.

I installed the boinc software in my home directory and I start up the client and manager programs when i log in
