Google Fiber- Static IP Addresses? LACP Switch possible?
Google Fiber is coming to my town.
Does anyone know-
With Google ISP, will I be able to connect a LACP switch to the 1Gbit connection and use it to bond 2 ethernet cards to utilize all the bandwith(using Linux bond)?
Does Google's leased IP addresses stay static so I can have my own website without any issues with the ipaddress changing?
Also, the cheapest Gigabit switch I found was 7 grand on newegg. What's the point in having a Gigabit connection if I don't have a device to channel it through to handle all the bandwith? There's no way I can afford a 7k switch.
Wow, I see what newegg search counts as gigabit now...
Ok, so I just read where I still need a router to connect a LAN(the switch) to a WAN(internet). I thought I could connect the switch to the WAN(internet). So, then I need a 1 gigabit router also?
Would it be like this?
Internet(WAN)-google ISP->Router 1gigabit->Switch with LACP protocall for ethernet bonding-> PC
have you spent any time looking at the actual google site?? you get a router. there looks to be NOTHING interesting about how it's presented to you over any other home ADSL connection.
Access Google Fiber all over your
home by directly connecting to one
of the four 1 Gbps Ethernet ports, or by
accessing the high speed Wi-Fi. And
stay safe with the gigabit firewall.
