Giving your computer a name

How do I give my linux box a name? I used to use old unix boxes at school and they had names like "Magenta", "Rosetta" and so on. How do I give it a network name?

So it should read:

<Ip address> <localhost.localdomain> <Rosetta>

If I wanted the name to appear as Rosetta?

Which ditro r u using ?

For mandrake 9.2 here is network file where u can put host name

# cat /etc/sysconfig/network
HOSTNAME=wren
NETWORKING=yes
GATEWAY=192.168.1.1
GATEWAYDEV=eth0

Try finding the similar or related file in u r distro and change the name as u want !

Choose name of ur system what ever u like !
