Ghetto-rigging a network

Here's the deal: I need to get my Gentoo desktop updated and online. However, the only net connection I have at the moment is a wireless one, thus relegating me to my iBook. Is there any way I can use my iBook as a gateway to get my desktop connected to the wireless connection using only a pair Ethernet cables?

This may sound a bit trivial, but my networking know-how is a bit rusty after not touching a computer for three months. Any help would be appreciated.

How about downloading and burning ISOs on the iBook and then doing a regular CD install on the PC?

I've already got Gentoo installed on my PC. The thing is that it hasn't been updated at all during the three months I was at Parris Island and I'd like to bring things up to date. Any ideas?

If the ibook has an ethernet jack, you can rewire the standard ethernet cable into a crossover cable and directly network the ibook and desktop. That or get your hands on a pre-wired crossover cable and it should work (provided the ibook can do NAT).
