Getting vnc to work

Hi,

I'm running redhat 9 and want to get vnc working.

What I've done so far :

1: I've edited /etc/sysconfig/vncservers so that it contains this line:

VNCSERVER='0:root'

2: I've used vncpasswd to set a password.

When I try to connect using vnc viewer I only get a grey screen with the X cursor , doesn't ask a password.

Please help .

Try to put VNCSERVERS instead of VNCSERVER on conf. file.

That grey screen is X windows... It is actually a form of desktop from your Machine running VNC...

You need to run the x0vncserver instead of vnc server (IF this is REALVNC)
