Getting net connection from XP Bridge into SuSe.

1st off, I am a complete Linux newbie, not so much of a network newbie but I'd stilll like help in this case :) (and Thanks for any you give me)

I'll set out the network first. DSL ---- >>> The modem of the Linksys WAG54G wireless router.

Then one port on the back of that goes to my computer in an extension which is seperate from the main house. There is another port which goes to another switch somewhere else in the house, but we can safely ignore this.

I only have this one wire coming into the extension and can't add another one because the wire goes underground.

Basically, before I've also got a laptop in this extension, and it needs to be wired (for server reasons). It used to run Windows XP and receive it's connection through my main desktop PC by using the bridging feature of XP on the main PC.

However, when I try it on Linux, it seems as though I can ping out (for example I can ping the router) but yet it receives no net connection. (Gateway set as 192.168.1.1 nameserver 192.168.1.1)

Router : 192.168.1.1
Main PC : I'm not quite sure how you even make this static but it was 192.168.1.3

Laptop : 192.168.1.4

I have tried simply plugging my laptop into the line coming in and that works absolutely fine (net and all, gateway and nameserver set as 192.168.1.1)

I'd really much rather get this XP bridge working rather than spending more on network equipment.

Thanks again for any help :) Would this be easier on Fedora Core 3?
