Unhappy Getting mand 10 to use dhcp with linksys router hub

I am having boucoup trouble getting my mandrake 1.2 to use dhcp to get it's ip from a lynksys router/hub. The router/hub is what is connected to the internet and it will be the only way this machine CAN connect.

It somehow cannot see the hub so it tries to set it's own ip instead broadcasting to see if it is in use but doesn't seem to see anywhere else.

I am not a newbie but this is still stumping me.

Anyone with suggestions?
