Gentoo Linux internet problem
Hello everyone,
i have installed Gentoo linux successfully from LiveCD. During installation it connected to internet and downloaded many packages. But once i started my machine on stand alone during boot up itself it gives me an error saying... ERROR: Problem starting needed services "netmount" was not started. I checked my resolv.conf file and also my /etc/conf.d/net settings for dhcp. Any kind of help would be appreciated. Thanks. -Mihir. |
"netmount" is only for NFS-related services at boot (mounting NFS-shares) - you will find some more explanations to the error in the system-log (/var/log/messages)
This should not prevent you from using the internet. Do you see other errors? Why do you think your internet-connection is not working? |
Thanks sir,
actually i dig into the issue yesterday and found that module for the ethernet card is not being loaded at all(using lsmod during livecd mode and in the hard-drive mode). So my next move was to load the mode automatically. and for that i went to /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.x file and added the module over there. Of course then i had to do some modifications about net.eth0 and net.eth1 files(links) but that resolved the issue very easily. Anyway i really appreciate your giving me time and getting back to me. I don't have your email address otherwise i would have sent a thanking note over there too. Thanks once again. bye. |
