gentoo dhcpcd problems

since installing gentoo(I'm a complete linux newbie)i keep
getting messages at boot time, after switching to runlevel 3,
that no dhcp client is installed and that netmount was not started. After i have logged in i can do a #dhcpcd eth0, and
that gives me an ip address.I would have been happy enough at that but recently my internet connectivity stops and starts
randomly after an #dhcpcd eth0.I'm plugged into a router and the router(belkin wireless G plus MIMO)is plugged into my cable modem(motorola surfboard).I have a sym-link from net.eth0 that points to net.lo.Also i have the appropriate lines in /etc/conf.d/net....to tell the system to use dhcp
to bring up my interface.does anyone have a clue about what these problems could be and how to fix them.Thankx in advance

Any chance that you specified dhclient by mistake in net.eth0?

You say that you have both net.eth0, net.lo and just net? Can you please post all of them?

If you have dhcpcd installed, it should detect it unless you're overriding it in conf.d/net. In a wired dhcp-only environment, you don't need anything in conf.d/net at all.

Yes, that is what I'm asking by questioning whether he has dhclient specified instead of dhcpcd. . .

Thankx for all your help and ideas.Err...i know this may sound like a dumb question but how do you attach files to posts!!.Also i think the fact that i'm getting kicked offline every so often has to do with there being five other guys who are connecting to my router wirelessly. This is where the problem of getting kicked offline every so often is i'd bet.Having said that i still could use your help in understanding what's going wrong at boot time(system reports "no dhcp client installed" and netmount not started).I can't send net.eth0 and net.lo in code blocks coz ther's a limit on how many characters you can post!.

if you didn't modify init.d/net.lo (you said you've got net.eth0 properly symlinked to it), there's no reason to include it. If you have, you should undo whatever changes you made to it.

Just post your conf.d/net (in a code block). linuxquestions doesn't seem to have attachments enabled.
