well other than refering you to lartc.org chapter 4 there's nothign we can tell you. you've said nothign useful about what you've actually tried to implement, so we can't comment on why it's not working.
Are you trying to multicast (I think that's the right word) your connections? (make 2 into one line) or are you just trying to add two gateway's in hopes that you'll get faster internet? or are you connecting two networks? what is this for? redundancy? load spliting? etc?
You could make a trunk I think it's called (look in you net config file examples, and it'll explain it near the bottom)
What you can do is use more then one network card, acting as one to get twice the speed, BUT
You must have the same configuration at the other end.
So that option is probably out of the question, if I understand you.
I think the best way to do this would be to setup routing on the computer so it could pick the fastest way to the data, You should take a look in the gentoo docs on how to setup a router. although I've never build a router before I've played with some stuff, so if you have any questions let me know.
i did route as LARTC.ORG .and than i was tested my 2 uplinks NICs
my second uplink is did not work when i take off cable from first uplink.why did not work?
You have to make sure that both gateways are in your routing table, because the way a router works is that it will pick the quickest way to get your data to the other data, so if it see's there's no connection on link1 it will automatically re-route to link-2, etc.
hi
thanks for your advice
now i got that,i got 2nd uplink is working when 1st cable take off
BUT
2nd is not worked when my isp link is down(not down power) for 1st card.
they r sending request to 1st card ,these request are not jump to
2nd Nic.
i got again when i closed power of my ADSL modem.
It sounds like he has a server with 3 nic cards. He would like 2 of the nics cards to route traffic to the internet for load balancing puposes or outside the lan. While the 3rd card will only take traffic destined to and from the LAN.
If this is the case he will need routing rules that will define the 3rd nic as a gateway and rules to forward traffic to the other gateways (Nics)
Im not an expert with iptables.
But there should be a way to setup forwarding rules for the 3rd (downlink)card to accept certain ranges of addresses on your network, and forward traffic from specific ranges to one of the other nic cards of your choice.
