FW Builder
Hi,
I'm relatively new to Linux so I built myself a Suse 9.1 machine. So far I have Samba up and running and GCC etc installed but now I have come to try and sort out a firewall. I looked at the inbuilt Suse firewall but it confuses me. All I can see is that it allows you to block ports etc but I cannot find where you can configure certain IP addresses or subnets through on a port but block for all other ip's. In slight desparation I have started looking at FWBuilder which looks to have a GUI interface which looks to be what I am after. The only trouble is when I try and install the rpm packages on my machine using Yast it goes through to the Yast screen but doesn't appear to actually install anything. If I run a search of the machine using Yast sure enough the FWBuilder components are nowhere to be seen. I have doublechecked I have downloaded the suse 9.1 rpm files and also used multiple download sources for the files. There are no dependency errors coming up when i try and install the rpm's. Am I doing anything completely stupid? Any help gratefully appreciated. Andy |
"whereis fwbuilder" at the cli will show you where is it located. Issuing "fwbuilder" at the cli loads the app, here.
Mine is in /usr/bin/fwbuilder |
thanks for the reply, just sorted it about an hour ago. I had a couple of corrupt rpm's so it wasn't installing properly. All up and running now though and I'm quite impressed with it.
