I have set up a network at home where I have a couple of sites hosted. I use unix servers.
I don't seem to be allowed to post the link to my network description but I can post it to you directly if you are willing to help.
This is what I get when I tried to add my link in this post. ( I wonder why they do this?).
"You cannot post URLs to other sites until you have made at least 3 posts."
My problem is that I need to ftp files to EACH server.
Is it possible with my setup or do you have any other suggestions?
I want to have the possiblity to ftp files from an outside workstation to any one of these 3 servers. I have a ftp server installed but I don't know how to setup my router. I have dynamic ip's but use dyndns and no-ip to make it 'static'. And since ftp is performed on port 21 how do I setup the router to understand it is to
a specific machine?
If it is about routers that cisco or other such companies make, I don't know really a word about that.
And If you have dynamically assigned ips to(what? ftp servers or the router?)
If it is the router which gets a new ip for the interface that connects to the Internet then you may be out of luck.
If it is internal then dont you want to be static on three of these servers?
On each server I have an ftp deamon running. Ip:s are dynamically assigned but a fixed domain name ( via dyndns and no-ip).
My isp is charging too much for a static ip. Yes the router gets a new ip each time.
