Question FTP setup

Please help,

My wu-ftpd use to work and now my company has changed IPs and it does not. The user opens ftp from inside the LAN or outside and the terminal reports that a connection has been made but no user name or password prompt is given - it just sets there (it does not matter if the IP or domain name is given the same result occurs). I have given the ftp interface port (we have 2 NICs on the RedHat 7.2 Server, one for ftp) an ip (66.192.236.XXX) and set the port up on our DMZ. I have checked that the ftp process is running and it is. The subnet mask was 255.255.255.0 and now it is 255.255.254.0 and all the machines on our network have been given this same mask as well as the same gateway. I have run out of ideas, is there some sort of ftp config file like telnet that restricts access on a RedHat Linux box that may be the cause. We could not telnet either and I checked the telnet file and changed the allowed access range from 10.0.3.0\24 to 10.0.2.0\23 and it now works.

Please help, I have no idea what could be the cause. Thanks to anyone who has any idea that may lead me in the right direction.

p.s. We have a new firewall, could this be the problem?

It sounds to me like you are using active FTP when you should be using passive FTP. Have a read of http://slacksite.com/other/ftp.html for an explination. But yeah, it does sound like the new firewall.

cheers

Jamie...
