Post ftp problem


hi all;
i m using RHEL5 on my server machine and open suse 10 on my client machine.both system ping each other,firewall is off of my server machine,i put a file from my client to my server machine using scp command but ftp command is not working when i want to open connection i receive a message "connection refused".what can be the issue?

Is the ftp deamon running on the server?

in addition to making sure the ftp daemon is running, if you are behind a router, make sure you forward port 21 to your server machine

You are aware that SCP isn't the same thing as FTP, right?? SCP uses port 22 over SSH. FTP doesn't, and needs it's own port (21), and it's own server daemon (like ProFTP, vsFTPD, etc.). So saying it's working over SCP doesn't provide many clues.

Which ftp server is running?
